Are You Looking for A Reputable Trader?
The Safe Trader Scheme is operated by Lancashire County Council Trading Standards Service to assist residents of Lancashire to find reputable local traders for property repairs, home improvements, gardening services, mobility aids and other services around the home.
Traders on the Scheme have all demonstrated their commitment to fair and honest trading by signing up to the Scheme's Code of Practice, and have agreed to work with Trading Standards should any dispute arise.
You can search for a local registered trader via the Safe Trader website www.safetrader.org.uk or by phone on 0303 333 1111. All you need to provide are your postcode and the type of trade you are looking for and a list of relevant businesses will be produced in an order relevant to your postcode. If searching via the website you can compare businesses by checking out their profile pages and the customer reviews they have received.
If you do have any work carried out please leave feedback for the trader on the website. This will assist both the Scheme and will help businesses to ensure that they are providing the best service possible to their customers.
As winter approaches, Lancashire County Council has issued advice on how to 'be prepared' if there is flooding again in the county this winter.
It's worth taking a couple of minutes to have a look at its website here http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/flooding/flooding-in-lancashire.aspx There's a quick animated video with some really practical advice plus sections on what you can do before, during and after a flood.
We know you'll not necessarily live in an area that has been affected in the last few years but you probably have a friend or relative who does so please share this with them.
A Life In Wyre residents’ survey has been launched and will close on the 13 November 2016. It is available online via SURVEY CLOSED and a random sample of 3,500 surveys have been posted out this week by Wyre Council..
There is a section ‘Your Local Councillors’ with an option included for parish councillors so it would be good to get a good response from parished areas in order to have a significant result. Have a look at the survey and given your comments.
You can read more about the survey here.

Places are limited, so they can be reserved by registering by email to it will be entrance by ticket only. Email. hoggontheweb@hotmail.co.uk, and as I said priority will be given to flood victims/ those threatened.
If you could ask if the date could be saved and then if they register an agenda will follow.

Coastal Access in Cumbria
Silecroft to Cleveleys
Consultation on key issues and opportunities
Natural England, working closely with the Cumbria and Lancashire County Councils, is about to start work to improve access on a further stretch of coast path from Silecroft in Cumbria to Cleveleys in Lancashire.
England Coast Path: Silecroft to Silverdale - GOV.UK
England Coast Path: Silverdale to Cleveleys – GOV.UK
It is important for us to achieve clarity about the main issues and opportunities on this stretch of coast - we need to be able to identify the pivotal locations on the stretch where particular issues (i.e. estuaries, major developments, environmental sensitivities, areas of significant erosion, where improvements for people with reduced mobility would be most beneficial etc) could have a significant influence on the choices for alignment of the trail along the coast.
Detailed alignment work will not be conducted until we meet with owners and occupiers on site later this year.
We are keen to gather relevant and useful information from a variety of sources and therefore invite you to submit your comments on the main issues and opportunities using this form. If you would like to receive the digital Area of Search shape file, please get in touch.
Please send the completed form back by e-mail to the following address: northwest.coastalaccess@naturalengland.org.uk by Thursday 24th March 2016.
If you have any queries or would like any further information then please contact the North West Coastal access Team via the above e-mail address.
Involving and sharing news and opportunities with as many people as we can must be part of our engagement mantra, so please help by forwarding this bulletin as relevant.
There are a number of consultations in progress so it may be an opportune moment to remind you that you can keep up with online council consultations at any time via our consultation portal.
WYRE BOROUGH COUNCIL ARE CHANGING THE GREEN WASTE COLLECTION SERVICE FROM 1ST MAY 2016. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED FOR FURTHER INFO!
Activity groups urged to sign up to new directory
September 14, 2015 in News by Angela Glass

Voluntary and community groups are being asked to join a community directory which can be used by GP s and health practitioners across Fylde and Wyre.
The new directory will help health professionals steer patients towards activities such as mother-and-toddler groups, dance groups and walking groups – so a directory listing could mean more members and subscriptions for organisers.
Wendy Jackson, for Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde Council for Voluntary Services which is compiling the directory, said: ‘The area has hundreds of activities such as walking, dancing, reading and gardening taking place every week and doctors are keen to steer people their way.
‘The trouble is that GPs and other health professionals do not always know who is doing what. We’re asking people who run not-for-profit organisations to get in touch with us so that we can list their activities and venues in the new directory.
‘It will be a great help to doctors and patients as well as helping organisers publicise their activities – and even boost their membership numbers and income. It is entirely free for all concerned and only takes five minutes to arrange the listing.
‘Leading an active life is hugely important in staying healthy and happy. The NHS helps medically but there are groups in just about every church hall, scout hut and community centre that are already doing great work.
‘Everyone can be a winner as hundreds of health professionals in the area will be using the directory.’
People and organisations wishing to be included in the directory are asked to download and complete the form by clicking: http://www.cvsbwf.org/9007-fylde-and-wyre-community-directory-open-for-entries/ and returning to Angela Glass at: angela.glass@cvsbwf.org.uk
